Going the extra mile for our baking customers: why the PureCraft Partnership is the perfect mix.

A day in the life of Hannah Jones – Field Development Manager (Sweet Goods) for the New Product Development Field Team

At PureCraft we’re well known for delivering high quality, cost-effective and brilliantly versatile cake mixes. But while each of our products have been lovingly crafted, the ethos of our team has always been to offer that little bit extra.

Because we know that some customers may want more help than others, you don’t just get the bag of mix -  you get the hands-on, face to face support of our team  - with the expert knowledge we bring to baking.

That’s where our Field Development Team comes in. We make ourselves personally available  - and I’m the living, breathing proof of that.  Let me tell you a little bit about how our innovative partnership let’s us all succeed together!

I’m Hannah Jones, Field Development Manager (Sweet Goods) at PureCraft / AB Mauri. I’ve been working for the business for 13 years, covering many aspects of baking craft – from customer production fault finding to development and producing products, to project management and beyond.

But one of the most rewarding aspects of my role is getting out on the road and bringing a personal touch to our partnerships with typical PureCraft customer - mid-sized bakeries.

To bring this to life / give a little more insight, here’s a day in the life of yours truly!

I begin my day at 7.00 am driving the 120 mile journey to the customer in the pool car. With the journey being over 2 hours, I hope to stop for a coffee on the way.

  • I arrive to site at around 9.30 am with my bags of Classic Crème Cake in hand.

  • I press the buzzer to announce my arrival. I am let into the building and I sign in and fill out any paperwork required to allow me to go into the factory.

  • I head upstairs into the office space and greet the customer. I am usually offered (another!) coffee and we have a brief catch up regarding the day ahead, before baking begins.

  • It’s off to the changing rooms to put on a hair net and change into my white coat and safety shoes. Into the factory I go!

  • The factory is a bustling hive of activity and I greet all the friendly staff as I walk through to the NPD area.  Baking begins!

  • Using the samples of Classic Crème Cake Mix, we bake an array of product from loaf cake to muffins to show the versatility of the new mix.

  • While waiting for products to cool, I grab some lunch with the customer and have a chat about current events, current projects and a general natter about what’s going on it our lives.

  • Once the cakes are cool, we head back into the bakery to cover the racks ready for finishing tomorrow.

  • I head back up to the offices to say goodbye to the customer and get on the road to the hotel.

  • The next morning I’m in early to finish any products off that require it.

  • Then its straight into an on-site presentation to sample all the products I’ve produced and answer any questions. Looks like its cake for breakfast today – again! 😊
