Good eggs! PureCraft support enables students to attend ABST 2022

PureCraft mixes and icings help five colleges send students to premier baking student conference

The Alliance for Bakery Students and Trainees (ABST)  is a non-profit making organisation which supports all those undertaking bakery education and training.

Originally established in the 1920’s as the National Federation of Bakery Student Societies, after existing in various iterations through the years, the name was changed to ABST in 2007 to reflect the changes in the provision of bakery training - specifically the development of work based training schemes as an alternative route into baking that that of traditional college-based courses.

Fast forward to today and the ABST remains focused on supporting all training bakers to develop their skills and knowledge.

A key component of this is the annual ABST Conference, where bakery students come together to learn new skills, network with industry leaders and representatives, test their skills in a range of competitions – and of course make new friends. Usually held at Alton Towers over a three day weekend, it’s a feature of the baking calendar and always keenly anticipated.

However, event travel fees don’t grow on trees, so once again, PureCraft were more than happy to put their money where their mouth is, in order to help as many students as possible to attend.

How did we do this?

True to the spirit of the baking – and industry – we donated over 500kg of PureCraft mix and icings to five different colleges that are affiliated to the ABST – with the goal being for students to use our goodies to raise funding for their trip, via bake-offs and subsequent bake sales.

“ Thank you PureCraft for all the support - it really helps us keep the cost as low as possible and ensure that some students - who otherwise wouldn’t be able to afford it - can come to the ABST conference.

The financials aside, it was also a great experience for them to use the wide range of products you kindly sent over. Our college alone made over £600 – it’s really made all the difference.   We even have some product left over so we can start raising further funds straight away once everyone is back in September – so once again thank you! ”
