Why two thirds say YES to the vegan test!

The proof’s very much in the pudding for PureCraft’s Vegan Chocolate Mix

Last month, PureCraft were delighted to attend the ABST Conference, where we offered our support to trainee and student bakers at their yearly event. Although there are many different paths into baking, many future bakers start at either college, university or the workplace, and each year, the UK and Ireland prepare hundreds of bakery students.

In an ever-diversified industry, the next generation of bakers need a broad knowledge of skills, craft and ingredients to be successful – whether they are planning to open their own business or work for an ingredient suppliers, a craft or a plant bakery.

Chief among these is the ability to make the most of veganism.  As we move through the decade, vegan options are everywhere in the food and drink industry, more and more visible in supermarkets, restaurants and or at home.

Driven by a combination of health and wellbeing factors as well as increased awareness of our wider ecological impact – study after study has suggested going vegan could be the single biggest way to reduce your environmental footprint – it’s a very safe bet to say that the demand for vegan is here to stay.

But nothing beats a hands-on, honest-to-goodness test of whether those options really stack up, when it comes to a Taste Test.

So this year at ABST 2022, PureCraft organised just that.

We set up our very own challenge to see if the students could tell the different between a chocolate cupcake made with a Standard mix, versus a chocolate cupcake made with PureCraft’s Vegan mix.

A lot of munching and happy faces later, we asked the students to vote on which one they preferred – and the results are in – with over 65% preferring the Vegan cake.

Proof if you ever needed it that the vegan option isn’t any form of compromise:  it doesn’t have to be bland, safe or boring.  Our expertly developed Vegan Chocolate Cake Mix (not to mention our Vegan Cake Mix and Vegan Doughnut Mix) have been carefully crafted with moisture in mind – and are fully Vegan Society Approved.

The results came as no surprise to us – but it might to you.

Why not see for yourself and order from our range of Vegan mixes here?
